#feelingappreciated

Hi there,

SwinginggToday was a day of little tasks. Pam told us yesterday evening that we could sleep in a bit and that we would have to go and start cleaning the tables and chairs for a wedding this weekend around 10:30. Which is what we did. The problem however, was that we couldn’t find Mike and he was responsible for showing us the stuff we needed. We decided to look for Pam who told is we could start with some other  tasks first. First of all we had to make up all Beds in the Bunkhouse we had painted in the first two day of the internship and we had to clean the floor, bathroom and toilet. It did not take the four of us long to make up the 8 beds so when we were finished we decided to split up. I continued cleaning the house together with Amber while Arita and Marjolein started on the second, smaller, Bunkhouse.
As expected Amber and I were finished before the others so we decided to have a look at were Mike was hanging out. It did not take us long to find him this time and he set us up to work on the tables and chairs. This was quite a boring job as it was a lot of the same. By the time that Arita and Marjolein joined us we had almost finished our task as well so we could go and prepare our lunch.

Gardening

Next up Pam asked us to do some gardening work for her. This is not something that is quite within any of our talents, but we tried. We had to put some plants in pots which was not difficult in theory but hard as it had to look good as well… In the end we managed to make the garden look quite decent and that meant we were finished for the day, and the whole internship!

Dinner time! Today was definitely one of our highs concerning cooking. We ate soup with bread which was absolutely incredible! At least the tomato soup was, I have heard some complains about the chicken soup I believe.

Flouwers and ChoclateWhile we were playing Frank Zoo yesterday evening a guy approached us. We had seem him walk around the camping during the day but he did not work here. While we thought he was going to asks if we could move (we took up quite some space in the main living area) he had something else to say. He told us that he and his partner were going to get married at the campsite this weekend and they really appreciated the work we had done in the roundhouse. (Lime washing remember?) Mike had probably told him that the reason the Roundhouse looked so good was because of us. This felt as a lot of praise for the work we had to do anyways but that wasn’t even all… He wanted to thank us and had bought flowers and chocolates for us! We were stunned, this was nowhere near necessary, as we had just been doing our Job. We are feeling so appreciated over here, it is incredible how nice people are as well. This also proofs that another of my goals is definitely to be checked off: being useful!

See you tomorrow!

Elise
